Yaroslavl Teddy Bear Club

In November 2002 an Exeter bear-cub arrived in Yaroslavl. The owner of a local pub, Paul Simons, had found him in a
refuse bin. Somebody's favourite bear looked so unhappy and unwanted that Paul took pity on him and took him home to
the pub. The pub regulars christened the hapless bear-cub Ted E. Before long, our Exeter pub resident acquired a British
passport, and began to travel around the world with various regulars of the pub. In a shot time he managed to fly over
80000 kilometres. In one of his visits to Yaroslavl he was brought here as a part of Exeter charitable Act by Galena
Goodwin, who lives near Exeter and previously lived in Yaroslavl. Ted E. Bear was made International Correspondent of
Yaroslavl main newspaper and co-hosted a programme on local television. Elena Mukhina, a staff member at the Exeter
house, decided to make Teddy a bride the Yaroslavl she-bear Masha. Who would have thought that this could prompt
the founding of a Teddy Bear Club? The club members not only make wonderful bear-cubs little symbols of Yaroslavl,
but also study everything associated with the world-wide community of lovers of plush teddy bears.

Our teddy bears appear at prestigious international exhibitions and win top prizes. In 2007 the collection bears of Elena
Mukhina were recognized as the best in Russia. All who can sew and who enjoy creative work are invited to courses on
how to make collection bears.

In April 2009 Yaroslavl Teddy Bear Club held a charity performance for small patients of Yaroslavl Hospital 3. This
charity action has become a tradition now. Teddy Bear Club has become extremely popular within the last years.
On New Year eve Teddy Bear Club held a great exhibition of authoring hand-made Teddy bears and dolls. The number
of exhibits was a record - 200 bears. Thanks to a very active advertising campaign held before the show the event was
visited by a great number of people. This event had a great resonance in mass media of Yaroslavl.

This year our Club celebrates the 8th anniversary. During this time Teddy Bears have become our passion. We make
bears, collect old ones, pictures, photographs, films, correspond a lot with Teddy enthusiasts and even write poems about
Teddy Bears. Our Club is non profit making, set up for the fun and enjoyment of makers and owners of teddy bears. Our
most important line of activity is arranging exhibitions and trade-shows in Yaroslavl and one day we hope to meet
visitors of this website at our exhibition.

We will be happy to communicate and share experiences with all lovers of Teddy Bears.
